4pm Friday Evenings - Enjoy a 2 hour guided walk (€20pp) departing from the hotel which is located at the northern entrance to the most spectacular mountain pass in Ireland and on the banks of the principle river in the Killarney Valley. This short walk explores the geography and colourful history, bringing to life it's incredible story whilst strolling amidst stunning views over mountain, lake and ocean.
10am Sunday Mornings - Take a short transfer from the hotel to Black Stream Bridge in the heart of the Gap of Dunloe. A moderate 3 hour guided hike (€35pp) along a shepherd's track and glacial moraine takes you onto the eastern flanks of this rugged terrain. Powerful land and seascapes provide the backdrop to the incredible archeology and history, folklore & myth and the wild nature of the area, brought to life for you by experienced guide, Con Moriarty. Your fascinating journey will end back in the gardens of Hotel Dunloe Castle, by canoe along the historic waters of the River Laune.

The starting point for the hike to Ireland's most spectacular peak lies just 5 minutes drive from the hotel. Approaching the mighty McGillycuddy Reeks via the Hag's Glen, the hike will traverse the majestic peak with exhilirating hiking amidst spectacular rock architecture and views over the entire Southwest of Ireland. The hike is personally guided by local & renowned guide, Con Moriarty. The duration of the hike is 5-6 hours. Difficulty: Strenuous Hill Walking; Rough Trail & Rocky Ridge Walking. Wind & Waterproof clothing is essential, plus sturdy mountain boots and these can be hired on request (additional charge).
